A small UK studio that builds things properly.
We’re developers and designers who’d rather do a few projects really well than many at arm’s length. We came up through rail and safety-critical software, where details matter and “mostly working” isn’t good enough. We bring that same standard to a salon booking system or a Roblox world.

Websites get a few distinct design directions, and you choose the one that fits. Systems start from a full brief instead: we nail how it works first and shape the UI around it.

Full-scale build
With the direction set, senior engineers go into full-scale development in tight iterations, integrating with the data and systems your team already depends on.

Hillmorton Design & Development (Hillmorton Design and Development Ltd) is a UK software and web development studio that designs and builds custom websites, web and mobile apps, operations platforms and booking systems. It was founded by Ethan Saunders (Co-Founder & Lead Developer) and Chris Healen (Co-Founder & Director), and was incorporated in England and Wales on 12 January 2026 (company number 16957863).
Hillmorton is a remote-first studio: its founders are based in Kent and Berkshire, and its registered office is Office 397 Unit 5, 399-405 Oxford Street, London, England, W1C 2BU. The studio works with clients UK-wide, and across Europe where a project requires it. All work is quoted and invoiced in pounds sterling (GBP), including for European clients.
Yes, where a project requires it. European projects are delivered the same way as UK work, directly by the founders, and past work includes a bilingual English and Portuguese website for an Algarve property brokerage. All European work is quoted, invoiced and paid in pounds sterling (GBP); payment in euros is not accepted.
Websites and web applications; iOS and Android apps, usually from a single Flutter codebase; operations platforms such as internal tools, client portals and dashboards; booking and payment systems; and product design with ongoing support after launch. Its own products include GuardianOS, a field-operations and lone-worker safety platform for rail, and FluxTrackOS, a multi-tenant fleet tracking platform.
Rail, fleet and logistics, field services, beauty and wellness, community organisations and retail. The founders came up through rail and safety-critical software, and apply the same standard to every project. Clients include Railshine, Beauty & Bronze, Aurea Properties and the Hillmorton Branch Railway.
The founders, directly. There are no account managers or agency layers: the people in the conversation are the people leading the design and writing the code. Where a project needs extra specialist skills, freelance specialists are hired for individual pieces of work through Upwork or Fiverr, but the founders stay accountable for quality and delivery throughout.
Mainly Next.js, React and TypeScript for the web, Flutter for mobile, and PostgreSQL for data, with WebGL for interactive visuals. Infrastructure is set up in the client’s own name, so the client keeps ultimate control of what is built.
